There are many types of watersports available to you on St. John.
Most of them can be enjoyed on the Westin Resort, can be arranged
for you at the Westin concierge desk, or can be scheduled/reserved
yourself (which sometimes results in savings). A few of these are shown in the
photos below.
But before we get to the photos, here is a list of some of our favorite
people to call for special adventures on the water:
-
Small Group Sails:
For sailing and snorkeling around St. John, we can recommend "SPREE 2" operated
by Capt. Bob.
Contact him anytime at (340) 771-3734 or (340) 626-3541. His e-mail address is ...
Send note to Spree's Capt. Bob.
Here is another good choice: For half or full day sails so that you can
do some snorkeling, exploring of St. John and some of its neighboring keys, or great
sightseeing, then consider the boat "Wayward Sailors." Capt. Phil Chalker makes this
a very personal experience. Call him at (340) 473-9705 or visit his website at ...

-
Larger Group Sails:
If you have 15-20 people, or you wouldn't mind joining some other
families to make up a larger group, then the catamaran Calypso will show you just how
fast a sailboat can be. Contact Sheree York at (340) 998-5564. They depart from the
Westin beach. Click immediately below to see their website:

Power Boat Charters:
If you would like a luxury experience in day charters,
we can recommend Chillaxin' Yacht Charters.
They have two flawlessly maintained power cabin cruisers:
the "Chillaxin'" and the "Chillaxin' Too."
The Chillaxin' is a 34' Sea Ray Sun Dancer
while the Chillaxin' Too is a 28 foot Rinker Fiesta Vee.
Both will accommodate parties up to six persons in genuine style.
The crew can show you the best snorkelling spots, the fun beach bars,
and remote private beaches for romantic strolls.
You may reach them at (340) 776-1221.

Chillaxin' Yacht Charters
If you would like to take a trip to the British Virgin Islands, a power boat
would probably be the better choice. Here we can recommend the 40' "Bad Kitty,"
one of the faster powerboats available for charter. Its crew can take you to
several interesting places on at least four of the islands in the BVI.
(PLEASE NOTE: If you want to visit the British Islands, you will need to bring
your passport.) Contact Sheree York at (340) 998-5564 and visit the website ...

Windsurfing:
Perhaps the best place to windsurf on St. John is Cinnamon Bay Beach -- one of the pristine
beachs in the US National Park -- where a steady breeze blows most days.
Cinnamon Beach is a taxi ride away from the Westin Resort.
On the beach, you may rent windsurfing boards suited for all skill levels, beginner to
expert.
-
Snorkeling:
Snorkeling gear is inexpensive to rent; you may do so at the Westin water sports shop
on the beach, or at any of several shops on the island.
Also, snorkeling equipment usage is often available to you at no
additional charge when you charter a sail or powerboat.
-
SCUBA Diving:
Low Key Watersports can take you throughout the Virgin Islands and provide you
with the equipment you need to dive in many spots where few other visitors will ever see.
They do snorkeling trips, too: (340) 693-8999.
-
Parasailing:
Cruz Bay Watersports: Parasailing can be
scarey at first, but after a couple of minutes you won't want to come down. Cruz Bay Watersports
can arrange for you to try this.
Contact them at the Westin Resort, (340) 693-8000, extension 1834.
They depart from the Westin beach.

Fishing Trips:
If you like to fish, we can recommend that you sign up for a fishing trip with Captain Chris Tronquet
(pronounced tron-KAY)
on his 33' custom fishing boat "World Class."
His is the oldest fishing charter business on St. John.
He offers 1/2, 3/4, and full day trips.
Typical catches include Kingfish, Barracuda, Tuna, Wahoo, Shark, and Mahi-Mahi.
Included are tackle, bait, drinks, and ice.
You may reach Captain Chris at (340) 344-1155 or (340) 776-7153, and his website is ...

Now for the photos.
With the exception of the jet skis and the inflatable dinghys, the "beach toys" photographed
on the Westin beach below are available
for your use at no additional charge.
