Making a Reservation

Please note, however, that we accept reservations for a maximum of four persons, and that children under age twelve are not allowed. Also, Hilloway is normally available from the night of November 1 to April 30.

WHAT ARE THE RENTAL PRICES FOR HILLOWAY? On a per-week basis, the rental charges are:

      November 1, 2011 through December 16, 2011:   $1,400
      December 17, 2011 through April 21, 2012:   $1,645
      April 22, 2012 through April 30, 2012:   $1,400

But we can also quote you daily rates, though the minimum stay is four nights. These rates are based on an occupancy of two. For families of three or four an additional charge of $50.00/night is made. Please note that these prices include all territorial taxes and any other fees. No additional charges will be made.

MAKING A RESERVATION Once you decide you would like to make a reservation, just let us know by e-mail or telephone. We will then send you a return e-mail message committing us to your reservation (assuming the Hilloway time is still available, of course).

A deposit in the amount of 50% of the total rental fee is then required.

Payment Methods: This deposit payment may be made via personal check, cashier's check, or certified check. All checks must be denominated in US funds.

This deposit may also be made via bank wire transfer. Just contact us for the instructions that your bank will need.

If you have a PayPal account, you may also make this deposit using any credit card that PayPal accepts. However, PayPal does not provide this service free of charge; in order for us to receive the 50% deposit payment, PayPal will charge your credit card approximately 3% more. We can calculate for you (using the published PayPal formula) how much you would need to charge to your credit card in order for PayPal to forward to us the exact 50% deposit amount.

Incidentally, if you do not have a PayPal account and would like one, just give us a call, and we will tell you how to set one up. It is very easy to do.

When Paying by Check: When paying the deposit by check, please make sure that the check is made out in favor of ...

Then send this check to us via US Post Office Express Mail, US Post Office Priority Mail WITH DELIVERY CONFIRMATION, FedEx, or UPS. Regardless of the service you choose to use, you will be provided with a tracking number. Please send us this tracking number via e-mail. If we do not receive your tracking number within two business days after you receive our return e-mail reservation commitment, your reservation will be canceled.

We Will Let You Know. Regardless of the deposit payment method you elect, once we receive your deposit we will let you know immediately via e-mail, and we will consider your reservation confirmed.

The Balance of the Rental Fee ... must be received by us at least 45 days prior to your arrival. The methods of payment are the same as those for the 50% deposit. (See above.) If you make this second payment by check, feel free to use USPS first class mail, if you wish. But please know that US mail arrives on St. John much later than the post offices in the States will advise you: First class or priority mail averages about 10 days time to get here. The maximum time we have seen is two weeks. So please allow for this delay; things simply move more slowly in the Caribbean.

Again, when we receive this final payment we will let you know immediately via e-mail.

Final Payments That Are Late. If we have not received this final payment in full by 45 days prior to the arrival date, your Hilloway time will become subject to rental to another party.

Reservations Made Closer to the Arrival Date. We certainly do accept reservations made less than 45 days in advance, and we will be happy to work with you on these. In these cases, however, full payment of the total rental fee will be required, again using one of the methods of payment above.

Finally, for last-minute bookings, we will do our best to provide you with Hilloway accommodations that work for you. We handle last-minute reservations on a case-by-case basis. Just give us a call -- using one of the telephone numbers below -- or send us an e-mail message. You will find us to be very responsive.

AFTER YOUR ARRIVAL Once you arrive, we would be happy to meet with you, if you wish. We live about six minutes from Hilloway, and we can meet you to answer any questions you may have about St. John, activities on the island, how to navigate within the West Indian culture, etc. Just give us a call using any of the numbers below.

CANCELLATION POLICY If you cancel your reservation at least 90 days prior to your arrival date, we will return all of your deposit, less a service charge of 10% of the full rental fee amount. If you cancel your reservation less than 90 days ahead, we will attempt to rent your time to another party. If we're successful, we will return your deposit to you, again less the 10% service charge. If we are not successful, your entire deposit will be remitted to the Hilloway owner; we retain nothing.

TRAVEL INSURANCE We STRONGLY recommend that visitors to the islands purchase travel insurance. This is especially important in the winter when the weather in the US may cause flight delays or cancellations.
